Missions

Cheshire UMC has several opportunities throughout the year to serve locally and abroad.  Here's how you can get involved...

UM ARMY 2019

TIME TO REGISTER

Responding to the needs of our neighbors is our primary, missional focus but United Methodist Action Reach-out Mission by Youth also provides an opportunity for youth and adults to experience Christian growth through service to others. Participants combine their strengths and resources to meet home repair and maintenance needs for low income, elderly and disabled homeowners who are physically or financially unable to make needed repairs themselves.

Our National Program Team develops a theologically sound annual program to be used at all programs nationwide. Young people return to U.M. ARMY year after year because our programs provide the opportunity to impact the world around them and the encouragement to build relationships with neighbors in need, new friends and positive adult role models. Participants realize the power of God’s love as they mature into strong Christian leaders. Many will become leaders in the U.M. ARMY program. Some may choose careers in ministry settings. All will remember their time at U.M. ARMY their whole life long.

May 26- June 1: Centerpoint Long Island, NY

Young Adults (Participants must be one year out of high school)

July 14-20: Forestville, CT

Mixed Age - (Participants must have completed 7th grade or higher. Kids completing 6th grade may be permitted to attend, at the discretion of the Mission Week Director.)

Attention Adults: All groups are required to bring 2 adults (age 21 or older) for every 5 youth. Each adult participant is required to bring a vehicle to camp. Groups who are unable to bring the required number of vehicles may be assessed an additional charge to cover the cost of rental vehicles in camp.

Jennifer Roeder will be the UM ARMY coordinator again this year. Please contact her (call/text 203-444-4067, email at jlynnroeder@aol.com, or see at church) if you are interested in attending one of the camps. If you want a first-hand account of how impactful UMARMY can be, ask around. You might be surprised at how many members of Cheshire UMC have spent a week or two...or more at UM ARMY!

Please Note: You do not have to attend Cheshire UMC to go to UM ARMY. Invite a friend!!
